I’d like to extend my thanks to the reader who submitted an inquiry for today’s Q&A.
If I have vitiligo, could my children develop it?
Since there’s a substantial number of vitiligo patients that have a relative with the disorder, there appears to be a genetic factor that causes it to be passed down in families. If you have vitiligo, it could either show up in your kids, skip a generation, or never even reoccur in your descendants. There is still no evidence that indicates exactly how vitiligo gets passed down, so I would consult your dermatologist if you are pregnant and have this concern.
Excellent work on the subject. This could be an eye opener to many.
Thanks for sharing.
